TASCHEN - FLASH MOVIE

During my third year of university I wanted to try and be as diverse as possible. One area in which I struggled with the most was Flash. I still struggle with Flash enourmously, but surprinsingly I managed to pull it out of the bag and create a visual performance of how an iPad App would work.
I decided to pick Tachen (book publishers). I hope you enjoy it!

TRUTH.

I have been on the prowl for some new fonts and have found some beautiful and trendy fonts.
My personal favourite is called, 'Stainy'. Stainy is the first and last font used on the collage below. I find that it looks quite 1950's America/ Coca-cola/ Pop art.

JAPANESE PHOTOGRAPHY

 I have been asked to look into Japanese Photography as part of a possible work experience and to get familiar with it and the contrast between where east meets west in terms of photography.
I'm not excellent at photography - but I will always give it my best go as I am a sucker for it. Since looking into Japanese photography, it's clear that the Japanese use more of a softer approach sticking with a pastel kind of colour scheme in contrast to the western approach (British). The Japanese make it more easy on the eye and kind of gives off the impression that the image has been edited in photoshop. I am sure its not the case (and hope not) but the contrast between the colours is patently obvious when comparing the differences between western and eastern.
Since looking into Japanese photography I have really grown to like it and even including some Japanese Photography blogs into my favourites and inspirations.
I got the images from Japan-photo.info - its so worth having a little browse around the blog as it shows photography in a different way that most westerners aren't really familiar with.

MY TOP 5 FONTS: #1 - MOD

Could you read it? I could. I have had a massive response to MOD. Some people saying its one of their favourite fonts, to others disagreeing completely saying its too bulky, cant understand it and just doesn't appeal to them. 

I personally love the MOD font, I agree that sometimes you can't really understand which letter is which - but I have always enjoyed bold and bulky fonts, so naturally I would defend this font.

For this, I wanted to show MOD in a series of different ways. I wanted to include black and white and a range of colours so that you can see what colours go with this font and which ones don't. Additionally I also included image and text (first two images) in which I incorporated a random image and the font together. I love doing this with MOD because its a bulky and bold type, not to mention trendy and modern - so it would naturally work together and create something beautiful. 

I personally think this type of font is best suited for editorial design such as magazines and brochures, but its already proved to be versatile enough by coping with a range of colours and a range of scenarios, so it would probably work and look pleasing if used for another area of graphics.

CARDIFF BAY

For my self initiated project, I decided to focus on advertising Cardiff Bay by making a brochure on the range of activities and things you can do whilst in the Bay. The photography used is mainly mine, but have used others found on the internet. Hope you enjoy!

Here are the final versions of my brochure. I am pleased with how they look, they look professional and have been mistaken for actual brochures on the bay.

Circus Fonts

Some interesting looking fonts for the theme Circus. I've got a small brief from university and we have to design a new logo for a local cafe that want their logo in a font like the Monty Python Font, so quite circus like - hence where these two come from.

I quite like the Circus font but I think my favourite would be the Cast iron, here are the links below.
