KEEP CALM & CARRY ON.

I havent posted for months I know, I have just been so busy with work and seeing my friends and family I haven't got round to it, but that doesn't mean I haven't done any graphics work.
I am a fan of Coldplay, but I'm more a fan of their latest album work, Xylo Myloto (see below). I love the fonts and I love the mash of colours and the entire collage feel to the album.
I have been casually playing around with their fonts and the use of colours and ended up with this, just a bit of experimenting with a new ray of fonts.

HELLO JAPAN.

Regular visitors to the blog may know that I had some work experience lined up in an independent and small Japanese Magazine. For the past few months, the magazine and I have been talking about what they want//what they expect and also what I think I could bring to the company. You may have noticed I have done posts on Japanese photography and other Japanese related stuff - in which I did to help me get a feel to the Japanese styles. On the magazine's blog they updated their members area with a special shout out to me welcoming me to the team in Japanese. 

The text translates into a little intro I did on myself and a little extra that they wrote in welcoming me to the team! I am so happy to be working with them as everyone knows editorial design is my ideal place in terms of graphics.

JAPANESE PHOTOGRAPHY

 I have been asked to look into Japanese Photography as part of a possible work experience and to get familiar with it and the contrast between where east meets west in terms of photography.
I'm not excellent at photography - but I will always give it my best go as I am a sucker for it. Since looking into Japanese photography, it's clear that the Japanese use more of a softer approach sticking with a pastel kind of colour scheme in contrast to the western approach (British). The Japanese make it more easy on the eye and kind of gives off the impression that the image has been edited in photoshop. I am sure its not the case (and hope not) but the contrast between the colours is patently obvious when comparing the differences between western and eastern.
Since looking into Japanese photography I have really grown to like it and even including some Japanese Photography blogs into my favourites and inspirations.
I got the images from Japan-photo.info - its so worth having a little browse around the blog as it shows photography in a different way that most westerners aren't really familiar with.

Then you'll love this. Its Rihanna, Kanye West and Kid Cudi's video for All of the lights. I was watching the music channels yesterday and saw this video and it caught my attention straight away!

BTW - takes a while for the typography to kick in - skip to just over a minute into the video! Also the cast iron font I have blogged loads about is used in it too!

NEWPORT UNIVERSITY EXHIBITION.

 Today I went to Newport University Exhibition and saw the Graphic Design exhibition (which was amazing!) Everyone's work was so different and presented so nicely too. I went with my two friends who studied there were showing their work, so I popped down to see how they got on etc.
None of the work shown in this post is mine - I completely forgot to get the names of the people who did it.

CIRCUS FONTS

Saw some people use some circus fonts that I blogged about earlier. I think circus fonts are starting to become more fashionable now, especially with it being used in a leaflet (the last picture below, in pink). The fonts used are Cast Iron and Circus, both look really nice! 

Since I have started blogging about circus fonts, I have noticed it being used a lot more, probably a coincidence but I think its becoming more pops now!

"BELIEVE IT OR NOT, I CAN ACTUALLY DRAW."

 Whilst in Pontypool College studying BTEC Graphic Design, I decided to make a book on my favourite artist, Jean Michel Basquiat and mimic some of his most famous pieces of work and do my own style of it. His work is completely up my street, I love abstract art and always have, but like Basquiat said, I can actually draw too!
I got a distinction for this project, thats just like an A in A level. Hope you's enjoy!
